1. The all appendages of mouth parts are
narrow and elongated forming proboscis.
2. Labium forms a sucking tube which is
covered by labrum fitted like lid.
3. The maxillae and mandibles are sharp
and needle like to pierce the skin of animal or plant to draw blood which is sucked by labium.
4. Hypopharynx is long used to inject saliva.
5. None of the mouth parts are fused
together.
6. Maxillary palps bear chemoreceptors.
Function : This type of mouth parts are used for piercing the
skin of animals and plan to suck blood and fluid.
Ex. Mosquitoes, bugs
and lice.
