1. The
female reproductive system consists of pair of ovaries, lying laterally in the
4th – 6th abdominal segments.
2. Each
ovary is formed of a group of eight ovarioles, consists of various stages of
developing ova.
3. From
each ovary arise delicate duct called oviducts.
4. Each
oviduct unite into a single median oviduct, also called vagina.
5. Vagina
opens into the genital chamber.
6. A
pair of spermatheca is present in the 6th segment dorsally, which opens into
the genital chamber.
7. Spermatheca
consists of finger like projection called diverticulum and bag like ampulla.
8. Sperms
are stored into the diverticulum which are received form male during
copulation. Ampulla contain sperm activation fluid.
9. Sperms
are transferred through spermatophores.
10.
Fertilized eggs are enclosed in capsules
called ootheca.
11.
Ootheca is a dark reddish to blackish
brown capsule.
12.
Ootheca is laid in warm and damp places.
